I can find no postings to this list and no scripts in Apple's Mail
Scripts that hint to me that it's possible to do the most basic thing
in Mail -- to get the contents of the message in the front window!
After two Jaguar upgrades with mentions in each of improvements in
Mail, I still can't work it out.
The properties of a window 1 do not include 'content' or 'message',
so there is no way of knowing what the window contains.
If the window contains an outgoing message, then I can say
get content of outgoing message 1
but that doesn't mean I'll get the content of the outgoing message in
the front window -- I may have 5 outgoing messages open.
As to incoming messages, I have no way of reliably getting the
content of the message in the front window. The only way to get any
message reference is to 'get selection', but unless the message in
the front window happens to be the first message selected in the
summary window (item 1 of (get selection)) !!, I have no way of
getting its content.
Now all this seems so utterly unbelievable that I must be missing
something very important and I look forward to enlightenment from the
list and a script not exceeding 100 lines that will enable me to get
the content and other properties of the message in the front window
as you can in any sane application.
