illustrator: how to kill these legends?

hello,
is there a way to delete these legends, illustrator
is producing along with its charts (esp.: bar-charts?)
by applescript?
i.e. the following entry:
row1: (empty cell), my son, my wife, me
row2: income, 100$, 1000$, 10000$
will result in three bars and three accordingly colored legends called "my
son", "my wife", "me".
any help appreciated.
