"copy"??? to desktop?? In which OS does this work?

Surely what you're trying to do, at least in the Finder, is
I use the script I posted, and have used it 3 to 5 days per week for months,
with no problems at all.
I am using OS 9.1, FileMaker 5.0v3, AppleScript 1.6.
I do not have the full Akua installed, I do have Jon's installed. If I
remove Jon's and click my filemaker button, I still have no problems.
I don't propose to know the inner workings of AS, BTW, but I created this
script in Smile, tested it there, and then moved it to the Perform
AppleScript step in FileMaker and it worked just as I intended.
I don't have any problems, bugs, clashes, conflicts, errors or missed file
copies to report.
FYI, I use this in the following context:
Clients provide images for prodcuts, along with tab-delimted text file for
description, price, etc. I auto-import that text file, creating new
records. I then run an AS that I wrote that plows through the images
folder, importing based on filename.ext, where filename <-> product id in
the text file.
I have about 11,000 image references (one lo-res, one hi-res for each
product) stored in the database. The actual images all reside in a folder.
When I want to generate a web page for that product, I export my pre-fab
HTML chunk, integrating that product's data, and I click my "copy image to
desktop" button, where I quickly grab it and upload with the new file.
I have never, not once, had a problem with my script. Sorry, Paul. :)
BTW, you know, some of us may not use the shortest path to a solution, but
frankly, I am always quite happy when it all works the way I want, and when
I wrote it myself.
If you have some suggestions for a faster way (this only takes a fraction of
a second, so I don't know how much faster "faster" could be), then I'm all
ears (or eyes).
But, to say "surely what you are trying to do", given that I've published
the way that I do *do* it, is a bit hard-handed, I'd say. Not that I mind,
frankly, and I've learned a great deal from you personally, Paul. And I
hope to learn more.
So, for the record, my way works for me, and I don't plan on spitting out
one byte of it.
If I find out that I've made some error in reporting about OSAX, then I'll
certainly let you know, but w/o Jon's it works just fine, and I have the
Akua parts that let me change prefs on (mostly your..PB's) scripts with
modifier keys.
That's it, really. (Well, I have a few more SA's installed, but nothing
related to 'copy' or 'duplicate' or anything like that.)
HTH,
Gary
(And I wasn't trying to be rude or off-putting...really...I will take your
advice pretty fast...but you really didn't offer any advice here, so...)
