Paul, I removed Jon's 2.1.2 (which does not have a 'copy' keyword, but does
have 'copyFile') from my SA folder and restarted my Mac (OS 9.1/AS 1.6)
The script in FileMaker 5 still works flawlessly, as stated. It's not Jon's.
So, being minimally intrigued, I opened every SA that I have installed and
clipped the dictionaries. I have now read each one and I find no other
reference to 'copy' or 'copy file'. (My human reading doesn't mean that
there isn't something I missed, but I don't think so.)
I have Akua v1.43 installed, and I find 'AkuaCopy' (AkuaCopy alias), which I
am, of course, not using in my script.
Obviously, in the Finder's dictionary, I find 'copy', which refers to the
clipboard (with Finder in front) and also 'duplicate' for file objects as
you described.
Similarly, FileMaker's own dictionary offers 'copy', also referring to the
clipboard.

See above. No.

DUPLICATE, not copy, with 'file stringPath' as reference. Since you've been

silent osax coercions.
So, there is the report of my "investigation". I am not overly concerned
for my machine, but I do create FM tools for others, so if I were to include
this script, I'd obviously want it to work under a variety of conditions.
I am happy to send a copy of one of my dB files with that script in full
context, if that matters to anyone.
Okay, that's it.
