Cricket, I'm not doubting *your* intentions with AppleScript in Mail,
although I think you need to widen your vision a bit...(how can I respect an
app I can't use for twisted purposes outside of the App's intentions? ;-)
But outside of you, and the core AppleScript team, I think it's *very* easy
to think that Apple doesn't care about AppleScript, and you wouldn't be
terribly inaccurate.
Leaving aside earlier rants with older iApps, let's see...iSync...*no*
dictionary at all. But something like iSync is *begging* to be scripted and
automated! My god, how can this not just jump out at people?
I know some of the reasons for the Server tools not being scriptable, and
they are getting a semi - by until the next major update.
But the fact is, when you look at Apple's high - end apps that are
*production* apps, as well as creative apps, AppleScript is not only *not*
there, but if you talk to anyone on those teams, their reaction to
'sullying' their apps with AppleScript is much the same as if I asked the to
let me puke in their pockets.
And yeah, I know more than one ISV who uses Apple as a reason for not
including AppleScript. Apple is the center of AppleScript. It is simply
leadership 101...if your footsteps are not first on the path you wish others
to follow, there will be no one walking that path.
Let me ask you this...can you imagine Microsoft pointing to Wordperfect as
an example of how to implement VBA in a word-processing application?
