Perl (yes, it's Perl not perl) is an essential (OS X uses it for
housekeeping and running the interface with the kernel). Easy to learn and a
growing, helpful community. Some of the most talented programmers working
today are actively involved in Perl.

Some people call it a write-only language but to me, it finally helped me to
grok the concepts of programming.

People in the Perl community write code to try to interact with Applescript
and to voice banalities like this must make them wonder why they bother.
