'sort' command-alternative?

  • Thread-topic: 'sort' command-alternative?

Hello, all-

I've been trudging away intermittently on a script that sorts all the
filenames in a folder (before doing a bunch of other stuff). Since the OS X
10.1.5 Finder doesn't have a 'sort' command & I'd like my script to be OS
X-compatible, I wonder if

a. the 'sort' command has been restored in OS 10.2 or
b. if there's an alternative, such as a sort command in a shell script that
can be called by Applescript.

Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Ethan
