OS X Name Extensions

Howdy,

In OS X 10.2.1, when a file has a name such as "My Greatest Script 2.2d4" (with no extension), everything after the decimal point is considered a name extension when using "info for" and when doing a "Get Info" in the Finder. The Finder will even hide the part that it considers an extension (if set to do so), which results in a truncated name such as "My Greatest Script 2".

I mention this only because I can see where it might produce unexpected results for scripters who are working with the extensions. <shrug>

Disclaimer: I'm still trying to become familiar with OS X so this caught me off guard. If it's just a common sense issue which doesn't even need to be considered, I apologize for wasting your time. :-)
