a question on scripting Eudora (guess who this is for..)

  • Subject: a question on scripting Eudora (guess who this is for..)

As one of those folk who uses Eudora because nothing else comes close (in
terms of the combo of interface, scriptability + price), I've got a
question.

I have multiple personalities (in Eudora). From time to time I get messages
that I want to reply to with a specific personality (that already exists).

Eudora's dictionary doesn't offer much with personalities. I'd really like
tell app Eudora
reply message 0 with personality 1
end tell

however, the dictionary only gives
---
reply: Reply to a message
reply reference -- the message to reply to
[quoting boolean] -- true if you want to quote the original text
in the reply
[everyone boolean] -- true if you want the reply to go to
everyone who got the original
[self boolean] -- true if you want the reply to go to yourself, too
Result: reference -- to the reply message

(no mention of personality)
---
Class message: A message
Plural form:
messages
Elements:
field by name
Properties:
(lots of them but no personalities)
----
and
Class personality: A personality
Plural form:
personalities
Elements:
setting by numeric index
Properties:
name international text [r/o] -- the name of the personality
id integer [r/o] -- unique id of the personality

However, personality isn't actually *attached* to anything you can use
directly that I can see. I've found some JD scripts on the web to do with
personalities, but those are about creating a new one on the fly. I don't
want that. I'm interested in making sure I reply (scripted) to a message
with a particular personality.
I note also that there's an old bug where Eudora will sometimes
reply to a message with a different personality from the one it was sent
to. Does anyone know if this is fixed, and if so when it achieved that
status?

Charles
