Applescript for printing to .pdf

Is it possible to ask laserwriter or another Chooser (postscript) printer driver to print to .pdf in any application? What I have in mind is to have one or more records in FileMaker Pro to go straight to a .pdf document, creating an FM script which will perform a specified Applescript.

A .pdf Applescript would also be handy for other applications as it is a bit fiddly printing (or exporting to) .pdfs generally.
