Recording in the script editor - Jaguar

I'm having trouble recording Finder / Desktop operations in the script
editor for Jaguar - 10.2.1. I will hit the record button in a script window
- and then do different things ( Window resize etc.) in the Finder/ Desktop
- but nothing gets recorded. (Other programs like entourage etc. Do record
things ...)
What's up?
