A previous list admin once confessed that it was a way to prevent Apple
employees embarrassing themselves by accidentally sending confidential
messages meat for other Apple employees to the list at large. This
apparently once happened on some Apple User Group. So the "reply to sender"
nonsense applies on all Apple User group mailing lists. it's been that way
as long as anyone can remember.
In Outlook Express and Entourage, just make an entry for the mailing list in
Mailing List Manager, and check "Override the list's default reply behavior:
always reply to the list" on the Advanced tab. You can do the same for every
mailing list and never have to think about it again. Just click reply or
press cmd-R and the reply always goes to the list. Other email clients may
have something similar but, if so, no one has ever said so.
