Yes, yes, yes. This would be a wonderful addition to the language.

Although it would be nice (and I think it would be reasonable, even in a high-level language like AS) to have operators for masking, oring, and shifting bits, I don't think you need to add any new types to the language. Just use a list of integers for a block of data.
