Ditto under 10.1.5, so whatever's happening isn't just new to 10.2.

I'm not sure, but I think something's not right with the application
object's properties. e.g. Try:

class of desktop

In OS9 this returns what you expect, 'desktop-object'. In OS X it returns
'property'. The 'name' property is similarly weird - chances are the others
are too, though I didn't check them all.

Smells suspicious. What you think?
