thank you for your help. at least the other two commands worked :-).
these predefined (bar- and feverchartline-) designs are stored
only with the document not in the prefs.
they are available when the appropriate doc is open.
are there any other as & illustrator-scripting resources
beside this forum (...and the adobe forums)?
