All,
I've noticed a significant reduction in goodwill on this list of late
and I just wanted to flag it and perhaps request, for what it's worth,
that people may wish to think a bit more about their approaches to
posting.
Recently we've seen the suggestion that people should be shot for
posting untested code and one or two others who seem to be confused at
the difference between that which is wrong and that with which one does
not agree. Racial intolerance and an unwillingness to accept criticism
have also surfaced. I humbly suggest that we can do better.
Whilst it's not at all unusual for those with considerable prowess in a
given field to be highly opinionated, there are at least as many who
recognise that this doesn't give them the right to offer judgment.
There are some shining examples of the latter here and I find that these
people are considerably more helpful and inspiring.
Given the musical connection that many of us seem to have, it might be
worth noting that anyone who aspires to rise above the pack must learn
that the spaces between the notes are what separates music from noise.
Cheers,
Nuff Sedde
