Mark Alldritt solved this one quickly. Mailing a script applet/droplet
causes the applet's eXecute privileges to be cleared. Using any number of
utilities to reset them makes it executable again. So it isn't an
AppleScript issue at all, I guess.
The cure is to wrap an applet/droplet (maybe any application?) in a disk
image before mailing it, or to take some similar step. In this case, StuffIt
might be a solution, if the name is shorter than 31 characters.
I wonder if this is limited to Entourage -- my email app of choice -- or is
common to them all?
