Well, under 10.1.5 (and back to 10.0.4), that's how it's behaved for me.
Forget that the applet's open when you save and you have to trash it and
recreate it.
Well, OS X aside, I thought I'd test my memory by opening the script
in the Classic Script Editor. Not only is there no such problem,
but, believe it or not, it is possible to edit the script and save
changes even if the applet is running!
That's more than I'd ask for, but it is clear that the behaviour I've
reported in jag-wire is indeed new and I can see no sense in it. I'd
call it a bug.
