Look in the Example Scripts subfolder of the AppleScript in NUDC folder in
the product folder. In the Now Up-to-Date Commands folder you'll find a
script called Get Events of Category On Date. You may be able to modify this
script to get events after or events before your two bracketing dates, then
do some arithmetic (subtraction).

For documentation regarding the NUDC AppleScript classes, commands and usage
generally, read the comments in the scripts in the Now Up-to-Date Objects
and Now Contact Objects folders.
