Question regarding Folder actions and Finder...
If I drop a file named test.html onto a folder and that folder already has a "test.htmL" in it, will the Folder Action attached to that folder ever get a chance to see the dropped file? Or will the Finder pop up its "File already exists" alert?
What I'd like to be able to do, in the above scenario, is have a folder action script rename the dropped "test.html" to "test-2.html". And, if there's already a "test-2.html" in the folder, rename the dropped file to "test-3.html" instead, etc..
But would a folder action script ever get a chance to do any renaming? Will Finder prevent it?
Ideas on how to accomplish the renaming?
