OK! I was doing this from memory! I wrote about...

>do shell script "/usr/bin/AppleSystemProfiler | grep \"serial number\""

when it should have been (ta, Phil Dobbin)
do shell script "/usr/sbin/AppleSystemProfiler | grep \"serial number\""

Question remains, though. Howcome it launches the app in 10.2 but not in
10.1.x?
