I'd just like to comment that it might be more appropriate for Apple to change the name of this list to something like "Macintosh Scripting" since we now have so many more possibilities.

The Macintosh Scripting Systems list

<mailto:email@hidden?subject=help>

<mailto:email@hidden?body=sub MACSCRPT>

predates this list by several years and used to be THE place to discuss all things OSA. There is no need for another list and I'd suggest that people with less verbose or more wide-ranging scripting tastes sign on and help make that list as good and as busy as it used to be. Since it's a properly administered LISTSERV list, you get the free extras of a Reply-To header and software that actually allows you to post scripts including "funny characters" without needing to mess around.

I'm on that list. Hasn't had a good joke for months. OSA doesn't include shell scripts, Perl, etc.

The only reason I stay on the AU list is the presence and excellent contributions from the Apple people, which did not exist before.

According to this reasoning, there's no need for you to reply to any posts other than those coming from Apple engineers...
