It seems that we have the opposite experiences. My FMP app stays up
all of the time on OS X but can't do anything behind the screen saver
login.

I don't have an answer to getting rid of the screen saver but
neither have I experienced your problem with regards to FileMaker
Pro and the screen saver. We have a number of scripts which do
routine admin work at 3:00 am. The screen saver is the computer name
one and IIRC, the screen is set to switch off after 5 minutes of
inactivity. These scripts tend to run fine regardless.
I'd look elsewhere for your problem. Check for updates to FMP on the
FileMaker site etc.
FWIW, FileMaker Pro under OS X seems to "unexpectedly quit" a lot
and is generally quite flakey. So code for this.
