text to speech volume

  • Organization: Eh? Whats that?

Is there a way to set the volume for a 'say' command? On a related note,
how can I find the dictionary for such a thing, where there is not an
obvious application associated with it?

I have some scripts which speak to me when I receive new mail - since
the 10.2 upgrade, when the scripts speak, the system volume is set to
maximum. I'm usually listening to music through headphones when this
happens and it scares the living s**t out of me!

I've disabled my email notifications for now, but I dearly miss hearing
them.

Thanks,
Russ
