As I understand it, AppleScript X (or 2.0) will be an alternate, parallel
system to 1.x. You'll be able to choose which you want, so it won't break
older scripts. I know nothing more than that, but my guess is that they're
planning to make it a "serious" programming language that accesses the new
system at a basic level.
