I don't think the AppleScript dialects ever worked in that sort of way,
ie: words were replaced with other words, the language was not syntacticaly
much different, (I am given to understand). In any case, dialects have been
discontinued.

You may want to try Mark Alldritt's JavaScript OSA componet. With the
noticable exception of "whose" clauses, it is a wondful blending of the
standard terminologies of scriptable applications within the semi-colon
world of JavaScript. Plus, you get all the ammenities of a first-rate
object-based scripting language, including regular expressions, powerful
array and string methods, etc.
