List,
I have run into the "outlook supports MS standards, rather than open
standards" issue. Here's what I'm doing. I've moved all of my scheduling
to iCal. BUT, my co-workers (including my boss) still use and rely on
Outlook. SO, what I want to do is make sure my outlook calendar is
up-to-date. I figured I could schedule my appt in iCal, send it as an
invitation to my Outlook account, and just open the attachment. And it
works...except the time is always off by exactly 5 hours.
So, then I thought I might be able to script my way out of this, but I
haven't figured out which AppleScript I'd need to hack to fix this manually,
so does anyone have any suggestions? I'm open to anything, because I need
to make sure the calendars are in sync (directive from my boss :-)
My thought was this, I could try to fix this either one of 2 ways. I could
try to alter/edit the .ics file before it is sent to my PC, by manually
calculating and editing the start time and the end time (since apparently
Outlook doesn't properly use the "Duration" info from an iCalendar file.) Or
I could try to take that appt., duplicate it but set the duplicate 5 hours
ahead, send the duplicate as the invitation, and then delete the duplicate.
(so, Outlook would get an invitation that was 5 hours "ahead." But before I
go through all that trouble, I wanted to see if anyone had played with iCal
scripting yet.
Thanks in advance!
