Why doesn't "Paste Reference" work under OS X? That was one of my favorite tricks under 9. Now I have to type in a long path to the file.

If you use Smile you can drag a Finder object into a script or text window and the pathname will be written for you. You then have to put quotes round it, but that's just a keystroke, as the pathname is already highlighted.

Much better in Smile:

1) Drop an Finder item (1), and you get its non-quoted path:
--> the:path:of:this:item

2) Cmd- Drop, and you get it in a quoted form preceding by file:
--> file "the:path:of:this:item"

3) If the Finder item is a compiled script, Cntrl-Cmd-Drop, and you get its full contents.

Useful!

(1) File and folder
