Richard,
I was having the same problem a couple of years ago so I started to lock the
Preferences file!
Set the launcher how you want it with the applications you want in it and
size it how you want and then position it on the screen how you want.
Now go to Hard Drive:System Folder:Preferences Folder and find the Launcher
Preferences and Get Info on it and check the lock box to lock it.
Now go back to the launcher and open it, move it around resize it etc...
Close it and open it up again!! Its back to normal!
If you have to make any changes, just unlock the launcher prefs file do your
editing and then lock it again when you are done editing!
