Mail.app - Checking if an email was sent

  • Subject: Mail.app - Checking if an email was sent

Is it just me, or is it impossible to accurately determine if an email was sent correctly with Mail.app? `send someMessage' returns true regardless of whether the message was sent or not. If it fails the app brings up a "do you want to try again later blah blah" dialog and the event still returns true.

Sure its possible to check the number/contents/etc of emails in the out box before and after sending a mail, but this is still inaccurate as there is no unique identifier that exists in both an `outgoing message' object and a `message' object in the out box. This may have been covered before, the list archives appear to be on the fritz at the moment (taking a long time to return search results on some searches and timing out on the search for this over and over).
