Hi,
I am a teacher in a school with iMacs and until recently an OSX server
with Mac Manager. When a student was logged in, I could see his documents
folder on the desktop and therefore know his name (700 students makes
learning names problematic).
As a result of a central decision, I now have a basic Novel server. Is
there anyone out there who could create or knows how to create a script to
do the following:
Report the name of the user's folder, which is in the mounted server
volume, in a pop up dialog window when the user mounts the server volume.
The window would float above everything else and would disappear when the
user logged off of the server. The folder path of the mounted volume is
/server volume name/users/students/user's folder titled grade_First_Last.
If a teacher logs in the path is /server volume name/users/staff/user's
folder titled c#######. (employee number)
Any ideas or offers to create greatly appreciated.
Roger Martin
