In Script Debugger, which is scriptable like Smile is and can where you can
also assign a keyboard shortcut to user script, I have a script that types:

set AppleScript's text item delimiters to {""}

And even inserts the cursor between " and ".

All I have to do is press one key - F5 - to type this. Neither the keyboard
nor I get tired this way, so, since it's not against my religion to use
'AppleScript's' instead of 'MY', I use it, since it's correct and is less
likely to change than 'MY'. (Who knows, may one day we'll be able to assign
text item delimiters of our choice to individual scripts and script
objects.)
