Has XML been explored as your default import/export options? As long as
you are not exporting grahpics (which would require exporting to a
FileMaker file) XML has the ability to dynamically map import/export
fields.

Or, have you considered a plug-in to read the file?
There's none that I know of that can accomplish this.
