It seems a general agreement that you should use System Events, but as for me I use Finder:

the use of "Finder" for these calls is deprecated. You SHOULD use System Events. First off, it's faster<1>. Second off, it doesn't hog the finder. Third, these calls t the finder will likely be removed at some point and then you will HAVE to use System Events.

<1> Or it was. Someone told me that those calls to the finder are now shuffled to SE anyway...
