Okay, I'm going to guess you're trolling, but allow me to point out that Mozilla's open source nature (specifically that it uses the Mozilla Public License) means that, if you really wanted to, you could put in hooks for Applescripting, license the new product as your own, and sell it to your heart's content if you wanted. This is admittedly hardly a trivial project.
The neat part about Mozilla is that it's a great, well-tested, crossplatform codebase that is built on standards and is easily (all things considered) customized and repackaged by anyone with the time and knowhow to do so. Granted, with Safari's release, Mozilla's browser is less useful for OS X, and Thunderbird might not be too useful if you enjoy Mail.app, but the more options, especially ones that aren't corporate, the better imo.
Anyhow, I enjoy using Thunderbird and Firebird when I'm stuck on Windows, and thought I oughta "stick up" for it a little. Saying Thunderbird stinks b/c it isn't Applescriptable is kinda like saying Mail.app stinks because it doesn't support xpcom (
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/xpcom/).
And that said, I'm trying to figure out how to automate Mail.app right now so that my email utility can sync filters with it, which shows that, for me anyhow, Mail.app is more useful than Thunderbird, perhaps, in the near future!
