Can't save a script without .scpt extension ?

  • Subject: Can't save a script without .scpt extension ?

Am I missing something that's staring me in the face or is it impossible to save a script from Script Editor without that damn extension?

Whenever I save a script for an application's menu I have to go to the Finder and manually remove the extension so that it won't pollute the item in the menu. Sure I could script the name change, but why should I have to bother?
