Oh, and I agree completely. Hopefully I didn't come off like one of
those people whining about features. I recognize that Apple has
limited resources and that development projects take time. And given a
choice between recordability and say the features of Panther, I'd take
the changes in Panther every time.
I'm just not sure that it has to be an either/or. However I don't know
how hard it is to write recordability into an application. So I'm not
the one to speak.
I guess I think that Applescript is one of those under utilized
features. Further it can be more complex to write simple scripts than
it sometimes ought to be. I'd love to see it used more as I think it
one of the most powerful features of OSX - especially compared to the
other platforms. (Yes there are equivalents on the other platforms,
but generally they are limited or only support a few applications)
The thing I worry about is that Apple all too often comes up with cool
ideas and then never implements them. I'd hope that Apple, of all
people, would take advantage of the features of OSX.
But enough of this tangent. Back to discussing particular programming
issues in Applescript.
