In that case it looks as if you'll need to wait for a new Safari to turn up in Software Update, though you can still get the source and write that to a file and achieve just the same result. Or use curl.

John: how do I use curl? What is curl?
Yes, I can just get the source and save it to a file; I do that for many news items and I put them into an FMP Db. But having an AppleScript like the one you gave (if it worked) would be really handy for copying down receipts and serials numbers etc. It is just this last line which does not work. Script Debugger shows up everything, including the file name .asp, but since the last line is crucial for saving the file, I get no real result.
I guess I'll have to wait for Panther to come, judging by what Paul has said, or the next version of Safari.
Although I like Safari a lot - it's usually much better than IE - it is still in my view somewhat beta. I cannot read the Daily Telegraph for instance in Safari, I have to go to IE. Usually I can't go for prizes for example Easywin with Macwarehouse, and a BBC prize, etc. I have go to to IE for that too. I can do the Irish Times Java crossword, but I can't waste time with the Evening Standard's crossword in Safari as it does not work!! (I have reported this as a bug several times to Apple, but I guess it's got better things to worry about).
