Seems so. I got mysteriously unsubbed last Weds/Thurs, and for a while
thought the list was just quiet. (Duh!) I've sent a message to CDE
wondering whether it would be a good idea to send an email to the person
being unsubbed telling them so.
OK, so where the message has bounced because the email's died, that
wouldn't help. But it would only be an extra email (how many bounces are
there per day?). In the cases where some content filter has bounced the
original, presumably the "you've been unsubbed" email would make it through.
Does seem like this has intensified recently, though. Windows viruses? Are
we getting unsubbed because virus-infected Windows users send emails with
our names as the From: ?
If that's the case, then I think it's time to get smarter
listmanager software which examines the Reply-To: field.
