Isn't our shiny new OS expected to be POSIX compliant, you know, at
some point? Then wouldn't a POSIX file be a slashy path to a file
like in UNIX?' Of course, I didn't know what I'd do with a POSIX
file once I had one, but whatever. No, instead, POSIX file takes a
string, which is certainly not a POSIX file, and turns it into a
Mac file, which is also not a POSIX file. Or maybe it is now, I
guess.
You know, we thought this was obvious enough when we created it, but
obviously it wasn't, because lots of people get screwed up by this.
That's because we expect a coercible class, not a property.
We want (if I may be so bold) to be able to say something like
alias foo as POSIX file
just like we can say
POSIX file foo as alias
but instead you foisted upon us the abomination
POSIX path of alias foo
which ain't like nothin' else filey. Consistency has gone out the window.
