oh for Pete's sake.

In Quark 4 with a 1000x500 image saved as eps and as jpg,
bounds of image 1 returns

dpi jpg eps
25 1000 2880
50 1000 1440
72 1000 1000 <<
75 1000 960
100 500 720
125 500 576
144 500 500 <<
150 500 480
175 333 411
200 333 360
216 333 333 <<
225 333 320
250 250 288
275 250 262
288 250 250 <<
300 250 240

So, wow.
There's is weirdness going on. I never noticed because our archive is entirely eps files.
The jpg bounds seem to progress in a linear {1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 ...}
The eps bounds are reported correct throughout.
It's interesting that the two agree when the dpi is multiples of 72.

I'll have to try this on Quark 6 tomorrow.
