It appear the OS assigns "name-1" if there's something hosed and/or
volume "name" already exists.
Yes, ASS "mount volume" appears to return the name of the iDisk. But
if the iDisk is already mounted, then "mount volume" raises an error
-55 (already mounted error), and then I have no way to determine the
mounted name.
Is there a way to get the volume name (e.g., "name" or "name-1" or
whatever the OS has assigned) if it's already mounted?

Doesn't that happen when your iDisk is already mounted?
Anyway, if you mount the iDisk by script, and IIRC, "mount volume"
will return a correct reference such as "file "name-1"", won't it?
