drop folder script for QuarkXPress or InDesign?

Does someone have a super reliable drop folder / watch folder script for printing to QuarkXPress 4 and/or InDesign 2 (on MacOS 9.x)?
A simple version is easy enough to write; I'm more interested in the harder issues like handling errors, staying in sync when printing long documents, etc.
This is for a client. We're open to paying someone else for the script and/or giving any improvements that I make back to the author or to the community at large.
One specific question: is there a consensus on which is better for this task, a Folder Action script (perhaps with a handler to make sure the folder stays open) vs. an "on idle" handler?
I only get the digest, so please CC me on any replies.
