Scripts via rules in Mail
Scripts via rules in Mail

Two questions:
1. How do I script Mail to print an incoming message? I have one
message coming in every day, always with a predictable subject line,
and I want to print it when it comes in. I can't figure out how to
print the message. I can make a rule that looks for the subject, and
have it run a script, but what to put into the script?
2. I want to make a script that looks at all incoming messages and have
it speak out loud the names of the senders (a short list-- not the
sender of every message). The result would be something like "You have
one message from Tom, two from your mother, and nine others." I would
settle for doing this on a message-by-message basis, either saying
"Message from Tom" or "Message from your mother" or whatever as the
messages come in. My problem is I can't get started-- how do I tell
mail to look at the incoming messages? Once there, I think I can say
"if the sender includes "tom" then (blah blah blah)" but how to get to
"there?"
I think both of these questions are sort of the same-- I need to get to
Square One with the script. The rule part I can handle, and the logic
within the script I can handle too. It's getting started that has me
stumped.
Thanks for this--
