Thank God for applescript-users Mailing List Site Search where I was able to
retrieve the message I had just posted.
I lost 1.47Gb of Entourage data. I had an archive file on a separate
hard drive on my Mac and Entourage decided to overwrite it when I had
another Entourage setup for OSX, on a separate partition. My original
Entourage also decided to read from the OSX partition even when I am
in OS9. The the data size still remains the same, 1.47Gb, but all I
can see is three weeks of emails (set up in the OSX folder) instead
of nearly two years.
Entourage has a couple of glitzy features but it is not my email app
of choice. For one thing it takes up an enormous amount of disk
space, which does not reduce even if you delete a whole bunch of
emails. For another it is hard to set up and find an account, and it
changes itself without the owner's permission to his or her great
cost. In short - and to be polite - it is unreliable.
Give me Eudora any day. At least you can see all the attachments, not
just the saved ones, in an ordinary AppleMac folder. In fact, give me
anything else but Entourage and Outlook.
Kind regards
Oz
