BOSTON APPLESCRIPT USER GROUP "BAUG" MEETING
The Boston AppleScript User Group will be meeting on Tuesday,
February 25 at MIT Building E51, Room 372 located at the corner of
Wadsworth and Amherst Streets one block off Memorial Drive.
We continue our tradition of holding two winter meetings based on graphics
and publishing related topics. As we are committed to the future of the
Macintosh platform based on OS X, we noted last year at this time that
perhaps you might not see QuarkXPress listed as a topic at next year's
graphics meetings. Well you won't and it isn't. For the first time in 10
years it appears that QuarkXPress will not be discussed or demonstrated as
an item on our agenda for the entire year. Attend the March meeting which
will feature Adobe InDesign and you may wonder if you need it at all.
Our meeting next Tuesday will feature two great tools for graphics files
and image processing- GraphicConverter and Adobe Photoshop. GraphicConverter
is a great image processing utility that supports AppleScript. It also
supports more file types than most any other applications, except maybe
DeBabelizer, and is a great tool for processing your digital camera images.
However, it's AppleScript dictionary is somewhat different than most
applications and involves just a little bit of learning to "get it". We
will be demonstrating script GraphicConverter.
Finally...after 10 years of having to hack around with add-ons, plug-ins,
and recorded actions to automate Photoshop...Adobe has made Photoshop
scriptable in version 7. And what a nice job they've done of it. We will
be exploring Adobe's implementation of AppleScript in their latest version
of Photoshop.
Beginners are encouraged to attend this meeting and bring your questions.
