Thanks Barbara. I had hoped to not involve System Events, but may have to after all.

Come to think of it, I think Marc Glasgow had a script that deleted cashes/history/whatever for several browsers. I think it only involved the Finder. Below is part of his announcement this January:

For anyone paying attention, I have a script (since 1996!) I keep updated that removes browser cache files, history files, etc, called SuperPrivacy. This is to notify all interested parties that I have posted version 5.02 (for OS X) to my website, and it is now available for download. This new version supports cleaning up after:
MS Explorer v5.x
Netscape Communicator v7.0.x
AOL for OS X
and now Safari (GM Beta, the current release).

This version does not require any modifications for user domain names/user names/etc (extracts it from the path to preferences folder), nor any OSAXEN. Compatible with AS 1.8.1 and later, haven't checked it against prior releases.

SCRIPT VERSION (for us programmer types):

STAND-ALONE APP (for your consulting clients, etc):

The OS X version currently does not dig into cookies yet, for I am still checking into how to devour .plist files suitably to do so without annoying the machine. Anyone who wants to show me how, I would be very appreciative.
