i want to build custom picture galleries for the web and an image archive. i know that i can create them with other applications but i would like to have more control of the design, linking and with a higher degree of automation. also, i would like to write a little search and compress script.

but i may be missing something. is there a scripting enabler for ir like the one for ps?

could someone please tell me if it is possible to use applescript to
drop images on an image ready droplet?

Maybe I'm missing something (I use Image Ready) but if you just drag your
settings by the drop-arrow you will end up with an Image Ready droplet. You
can put it anywhere, make aliases to it and the like.

Why would you want to drop something on A to tell it to drop it on B?

Just drop your images onto the droplet.

That said, if you want to do something to them _before_ they reach the
droplet for Image Ready ... like, say, rename them all in some way ... then
just make your renaming (or whatever) droplet and include in it statements
to tell the Finder to open them with the droplet. They won't "actually" be
"dropped" onto the IR droplet, of course.

However...I can't even see that as being required because you can have the
IR droplet do the renaming as well. The best approach here would be to make
the IR droplet do _exactly_ what you want (including rename, resize,
re-depth the color, etc) and then just drag and drop to make your new
droplet.
