If documents are XML based, then they are scriptable because they contain
the complete reference to the document's format and elements.
Any document that is XML based can be parsed for further action with any
scripting language that can read text.
As more and more formats adopt XML, then they are open to any parsing from
any source.
That translates, as reported, to *very* scriptable.
This should be differentiated from "scripting the app"...as it is more akin
to "scripting something to do something with the output of the app". A fine
way to approach things if you are concerned with text-based
output/rendering.
