There are so many other great and dedicated tools that seamlessly integrate
GUI scripting with AS that I wonder whether its worth the overhead: human
time wasted developing it; human time maintaining and correcting it; and on
and on. I suppose Apple thinks they know what they're doing <:-)~
KeyQuencer (free or paid); QuickKeys; Frontier; Youpi and other "macro"
language GUI-and-more applications just seem so direct and easy to use that
I wonder why anyone would really choose a convoluted AS way of doing
something that can just be done in 2 or 3 simple lines of KQ code? I've not
seen one posting of a GUI script that could be classified as anything more
than mere curiosity about the new features. And I've not seen one that
couldn't be made with KQ (os 9, of course) using just a few commands.
I "script" unscriptable applications or menu selections all the time.
If AS doesn't have a command, then I send the task to KQ via AS and proceed.
For example, I use ctrl-V to change the font to Verdana in _any_ application
that has a menu or popup menu or submenu -- with the word Font and an item
called 'Verdana' in it. No errors in any application for over three years
now. I don't need to "tell" any application anything. One keystroke, 3
lines of code.
As for GUI macro-making: why not just bring back the little cassette icon
in the menu --- Macro Maker? --- from the Plus days. That'd be worth
something I'd guess.
And while Apple's at it, when is the new version of HyperCard coming out?
<sigh>
